No Juicer Green Juice

I used to be a daily juicer years ago, but I wasn't sure why I always felt like garbage when I drank them. They're supposed to be so healthy and detoxing, right?!

I was constantly feeling wired and tired after juicing. Really tired... and really moody!

The reasons?

1. I was drinking a lot of carrot/apple/beet juices with just a few greens. There's no fiber in a juice to counteract the sugars from the fruits and veggies. Just like drinking a bottle of juice from the store, my blood sugar was on a roller coaster - and here I thought I was being super healthy!

2. I was using juices as meal replacements. I would have them for breakfast, without anything else until lunch - another recipe for wonky blood sugar, fatigue and major mood swings.

______

I've been trying to get more greens into my diet lately (they make me sleep SO WELL) but all the extra fiber can be irritating for ulcerative colitis.

My solution: JUICE!

This juice isn't a blood sugar spiker and definitely not a meal replacement. Just some real food liquid nutrients to make magical sleep happen!

No juicer, no problem! I just used my high-powered blender and strained it.

Ingredients:

Juice of 1 lemon

1/4 cup water or herbal tea

1 cup frozen kale, packed

1 small knob of ginger

Directions:

Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer, cheese cloth or paint strainer. Enjoy!

*Makes 1 small juice
